Rental Begins
– The day of your arrival. The Boat Master will
bring the keys to your vacation home between the
hours of 4pm and 7pm. The person designated as
the driver and responsible party must be present
during these hours to complete a short course
and review of Lake Lure Lake Regulations, Boat
Overview and Water Safety. If the responsible
party is not available during these hours, then
an appointment may be set between the hours of
9am and 11 am. for the next morning (except on
Sunday). If you do not arrive until Sunday,
then this procedure will take place on Monday
morning.
Rental Ends
– The day of your departure at 9:00 am. A
pre-set appointment will be made at the time of
your arrival, for a departure check of the boat
with the Boat Master. These appointments are
set on Friday between the hours of 2pm and 6pm
and then again on Saturday between the hours of
8am and 10am. Again, the responsible person
designated must be present for this final
departure check-out. The boat is to be returned
clean; free of trash, with a full tank of gas
and in good working order an inspection will be
made upon return of the boat.
A Boat Security Deposit
in the minimum amount of $300.00 will be taken
in addition to any other deposit required to
insure all conditions of the boat rental
agreement are met (A credit card imprint for
$300.00 will remain on file until all conditions
have been met). The Boat Security Deposit is a
separate deposit and is not considered as part
of the Security Deposit for the rental home. IF
any monies are retained for damages or for
non-fulfillment of the I.W.S.F. Craft
Rental Agreement, then a letter
explaining all charges will be mailed to within
2 weeks after your departure.
Gas
– At pick-up, the boat will have at least
one full tank of gas, and boats that have two
gas tanks may have at least one-half of a tank
in reserve. Additional gas fill-ups are the
financial responsibility of the Lessee. The
boat is to be returned to the vacation home will
a full tank of gas or more, depending on how
full the tanks were when you received the boat.
This will be noted on your Boat Check-In
Sheet. If the boat is not returned with a full
tank of gas, then an additional service fee of
$50.00 will be charged in addition to the cost
of the gas. This amount will be deducted from
your security deposit.
Equipment –
All equipment on the boat will remain with the
boat at all times. Life jackets for the maximum
persons allowed are provided. No floats, tubes
or other devices may be tied to any railings and
may not be towed
Repairs –
Please Do Not Attempt Any Repairs To This
Watercraft With Regard To Any Part of the
Watercraft. If any part is not functioning
properly, please report immediately to the
Rental Office at 625-9600 or 625-9119
No Refunds or Rebates will be given for
inclement weather or early returns.
Lake Use
Regulations provided by the Town of Lake Lure as
it pertains to operation of boats with vacation
rental homes and water safety, is as follows and
should be strictly adhered to.
(A) No
water vessels shall be operated shoreward of
markers designation restricted areas.
(B)
No
water vessels shall be tied to any town owned
public dock for longer than two and a half
hours, except for boats owned or permitted in
the name of the town, unless special permission
is received from the town manager
(C)
No
water vessels shall be operated at a speed
greater than “no wake” speed within 75 feet of
the shoreline of Lake Lure.
(D)
No
water vessels shall operate at a speed greater
than “no wake” on areas of Lake Lure not
regulated by (C) above, when such areas are
properly marked with a lawfully placed buoy or
marker.
(E)
No
water vessel shall be tied to any lawfully
placed marker buoy on the lake or shoreline of
Lake Lure.
(F)
All
water vessels must be operated at “no wake”
speed from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. during the months of
October through April and 9 p.m. to 7 a.m.
during the months of May through September.
(G)
No
person may operate a recreational vessel under
way with any child under 13 years old aboard
unless each such child is either:
1.
Wearing an appropriate personal flotation device
(PFD) approved by U.S. Coast Guard; or
2.
Below decks or in an enclosed cabin
(H)
It
shall be unlawful for any person to operate a
water vessel on Lake Lure in a reckless or
negligent manner so as to endanger the life,
limb, or property of any person upon or near
said lake.
(I)
No
person shall operate a water vessel while under
the influence of an impairing substance or after
having consumed sufficient alcohol that said
person has an alcohol concentration of 0.08 or
more.
(J)
No
person shall engage in motorized water vessel
racing on Lake Lure
(K)
No
person shall place, throw, deposit, or discharge
or cause to be placed, thrown, deposited, or
discharged on the waters of Lake Lure, any
litter, raw sewage, bottles, cans, papers, or
other liquid or solid materials which render the
waters unsightly, noxious, or otherwise
unwholesome so as to be detrimental to the
public health or welfare or to the enjoyment and
safety of the water for recreational purposes.
